The heavenly blue stone Lapis Lazuli is from Afghanistan and was traded all over Asia Minor and Egypt over 4,000 years ago.


Etched Carnelian beads date from the Sumerian period 3rd Century B.C. - 5th Century A.D. the latter being from North

and South India.


Wonderful opulent green glass beads from the city of Tyre

are dating back to early historic period.


Some of the rare beads seen here are from Anna's private collection date back to 3,000 B.C. and some from 7th Century A.D., the early Islamic period, can be seen on these pages, forming wonderful and individual pieces of jewellery.


Examples in her collection are linked to the ancient Silk Route and the great caravan trading posts that went from Egypt, through Asia and ending up in China.

A collection of ancient Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, Carnelian and Gold.


These pieces resemble the ancient jewels of Mesopotamia which were highly valued and were associated with wealth and status.

Amulet - ‘the thing which keeps safe’. Amulets were worn from antiquity to the middle ages as a protection against the evil eye and super-natural powers. For example, some amulets represent particular gods and were thought to impart qualities associated with those gods.
